Ducks & Drakes Trust
The Ducks & Drakes Trust newly formed by friends and family of Annette & Richard Drake following thier son Andy’s' diagnosis with a rare genetic problem_Familial Adenomatous Polyposis (FAP) that can develop into bowel cancer.
The aim of the trust will be to inform young men and women everywhere of the potential problem and importance of recognising symptoms early and getting medical advice or treatment
A very local project and a personal one; as the family Drake are friends and neighbours, but an initiative that is greatly deserving of financial support to inform and educate young people with an aim to avoid what can be a devastating or life threatening condition. The trust will also be launching a web site in 2010
What is Familial Adenomatous Polyposis (FAP)?
FAP is an inherited condition which mainly affects the large intestine, (also known as the large bowel or colon and rectum). People with FAP develop many polops (which look like cherries on stalks) inside the large bowel. It is a genetic condition, that is to say it is caused by a faulty gene. The FAP gene is one of many thousands of genes carried in our chromosomes which determine our physical characteristics.
The proceeds from sales of O W P photography also available through "Redbubble" in 2010 will be donated to the trust
